Why do good things happen to bad people?

December 10, 2010

Life comes with many questions and hardly any answers. We have to search for those answers but do not know where to look.  For Muslims, we mostly search for life’s big questions in the Quran.  There are very few questions left after reading and understanding Allah’s words.

Some of life’s questions are:

why do good things happen to bad people and vice versa?  the following answers can be found in the Quran:

  [29:2-3] “Do the people think that they will be left to say, “We believe,” without being put to the test?” We have tested those before them, for GOD must distinguish those who are truthful, and He must expose the liars.

[3:179] GOD is not to leave the believers as you are, without distinguishing the bad from the good.

[2:214] Do you expect to enter Paradise without being tested like those before you?

Also while being tested, we might get more out of our hardships then we thought possible, this verse clarifies that point more:

[2:216] .. But you may dislike something which is good for you, and you may like something which is bad for you. GOD knows while you do not know.

why were we created? what is our purpose in life? the answer according to the Quran is:

“Blessed is He in Whose hand is the kingdom, and He has power over all things;

It is He Who has created death and life that He might try you—which of you is best in deeds; and He is the Mighty, the Most Forgiving”

Is there such a thing as soulmates?

And among His signs is this that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that ye may dwell in tranquility with them, and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts); verily in that are signs for those who reflect.” [30:21]

What are some of  your big questions in life that you have? Have you found the answers you need?  Or are you still searching?

    This one is hard, especially for me. All I can do is remind myself that life is not fair. You’re told this when you’re a child, but you liken it to not getting the coolest toy that everyone else has. When you get older, it applies to death and disease, but I still hold on to the belief that life is fair in a way, even though I know it really isn’t.
